Chelsea have secured the signing of Nicolas Jackson, a talented Senegalese forward, from Villarreal, committing to a lengthy eight-year contract.
Chelsea have completed the signing of Senegal forward Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal on an eight-year contract. The 22-year-old had a remarkable season, scoring 13 goals in 38 appearances for his former La Liga club, with nine of those goals coming in the final eight league games.
This acquisition marks Chelsea's second signing of the summer, following the £52 million deal for French striker Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig. Co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley expressed their confidence in Jackson's potential, emphasizing that he is ready for the next phase of his career under the guidance of new head coach Mauricio Pochettino and alongside his Chelsea teammates.
Although the precise transfer fee was not disclosed, sources suggest that Chelsea paid around £32 million for Jackson's services. Pochettino has been actively reshaping the Chelsea squad, with several notable departures already completed and more expected to occur. Among these transfers, German forward Kai Havertz moved to Arsenal in a £65 million deal, while Croatia midfielder Mateo Kovacic joined Manchester City for an initial fee of £25 million.
Meanwhile, Jackson's compatriots Edouard Mendy and Kalidou Koulibaly have both secured moves to Saudi clubs, and N'Golo Kante has agreed to join Saudi champions Al-Ittihad. Additionally, winger Hakim Ziyech has been linked with a potential move to the Saudi Pro League, and English midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek recently completed a transfer to AC Milan.
